The Caserne de Lourcine, a military barracks in Paris’s 13th arrondissement dating from 1875, was converted into a university campus. The project sought to respect the city’s heritage with a low-impact conversion that would preserve the existing spaces as much as possible, and maintain the site’s footprint and history. It is 24,900 square metres in area, and consists of four buildings.
